  3. The problem with research like the intelligence work is that it isn't *really* research yet. It might be better to label it anecdotal.

    Often the response from researchers is that they simply can't construct a model that is fair to their subjects. This is what you hear from education researchers on all of the remedies applied to the nation's school systems.

    The problem is other funding agencies don't require rigor like NSF.

    If I were to guess about the power relationship among the variables in the study, I would say that parental involvement is going to be strongest. Genetics has never proved to be nearly as strong because it is masked by variability. This is the major difficulty with intelligence theories in general and gives rise to the fallacies printed in the WSJ when they wheel out the pickled brainz of discredited IQ theorists every couple of years.
